Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are always welcome at Mercy Hospital!

Your unique talents and personal experiences can help Mercy Hospital provide quality service to the Oelwein community. Mercy has many opportunities to volunteer and flexible schedules to fit any lifestyle.

Areas where volunteers are needed:

Gift Shop:

The Gift Shop is open Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.Volunteers are needed to help serve customers wishing to purchase cards, candy or gum, plush toys, books, candles, figurines, seasonal decorations, and many other items.

Clinic Hostess:

Volunteers are needed at the Mercy Clinic to help clinic patients fill out paperwork, make appointments, and escort them to examination rooms, laboratory, radiology or other areas of the hospital.

Nursing Unit:

Delivering mail and flowers, serving ice water, beverages, and meal traysare just a few of the ways that volunteers can assist hospital patients in the nursing unit.

Living Plus:

Living Plus is a unit with long-term care residents. Volunteers are needed to write letters, read to residents, visit one to one, paint fingernails, assist with special parties & events and much much more!
