From informational programs for expectant mothers to achieving the perfect birth experience and a lot more in between, Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare has everything in place to give new life a great beginning. A Woman’s Place at Covenant (319-272-MOMS (6667)) - An on-site retail store for families, offering various gifts for mom and baby, along with breast pumps, bras, and numerous other hard to find items. Located on the third floor in the Family Birth Center and open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by appointment. Health Screenings - Every baby born has the opportunity to experience important lab screenings and hearing testing. These tests can help ensure their growth is healthy and free of problems. These screenings are designed to help minimize the effects of any long-term disabilities. Family Birth Center - Covenant Medical Center opened our new Family Birth center in 2005. We have 19 spacious LDRP rooms which provide a home-like, warm and comfortable place for families to share in the entire birth experience. Our rooms include a queen-size sleep sofa, CD players, refrigerator, and VHS/DVD players in the flat screen TVs. Mothers can enjoy the relaxing benefits of our whirlpool tubs during labor and postpartum. Instead of traditional hospital meals, we offer room service to each new mother. Covenant Prenatal Clinic - Specialized prenatal care for women with risk factors related to age, lifestyle or family history or those with limited or no insurance. Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery - Often times, newborns have very special, immediate needs. Covenant has the only Level II Regional Intensive Care Nursery in the area to help care for babies who are premature or have special needs. Breastfeeding Support Services (319-272-MILK (6455))- A certified lactation consultant is on-site to assist with breastfeeding issues before, during and after delivery. Maternal Child Home Health - Follow-up visits from professionals who help with special needs of the mother and newborn.
Newborn Assessment Clinic - To make sure babies are healthy and doing well and to answer any questions, Covenant offers a newborn assessment clinic to all moms and babies two to three days after discharge. Pediatrics - At one time or another, parents will experience their child being sick. Covenant has physicians, nurses and other medical personnel on staff who specialize in pediatrics, neonatology and family practice care. They can provide the medical attention needed for nursing children back to good health. Women’s Center for Health - Women’s Center For Health at Covenant Medical Center provides women with valuable information, resources and services to help them become involved in and take more responsibility for their own health care and the health care of their families.
Early Developmental Intervention (EDI) - Families with a child who has developmental delays or a disability face many challenges. Covenant Medical Center's Early Developmental Intervention (EDI) program recognizes these challenges and has pediatric trained professionals who are dedicated to helping each child communicate, play, move, learn and live life to the fullest. The Early Developmental Intervention (EDI) program at Covenant Medical Center provides physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy services for children of all ages.
