Additional services at Covenant Medical Center assist in the patient’s diagnosis, treatment and recovery. Professional staff work with the patient and physician to design an individual program for follow-up care and medical equipment needs.

Diagnostics
Physicians at the Covenant Cancer Treatment Center have use of advanced diagnostic equipment to aid in assessing the patient’s medical needs. State-of-the art magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), PET scanning, bone density testing, CT scanning, ultrasound, digital subtraction angiography and nuclear scanning provide the latest diagnostic technique in the Radiology Department at Covenant Medical Center.

Care-A-Van
The average radiation oncology patient makes approximately 30 trips to the Cancer Treatment Center for treatments over a 6-week period. The goal of the Care-A-Van service is to relieve some of the expense and inconvenience for patients who must travel 60-miles round trip or more for their radiation treatments.

Transportation is available, free of charge, for cancer patients from various Northeast Iowa communities who receive radiation treatments at the Covenant Cancer Treatment Center. Covenant’s metro Care-A-Van service also provides transportation for patients living in the Waterloo metropolitan area. For information talk with social services or front desk reception.

Durable Home Medical and Pharmacy Services
For patients who need medical equipment in the home, Covenant Home Medical and Pharmacy Services offers such items as wheelchairs, beds, walkers and respiratory machines. Professional instruction and insurance filing is also provided. For information on home delivery or for emergency support 24 hours a day, seven days a week, call (319) 272-5626.

SecuraSitter
Qualified caregivers are available 24 hours a day through SecuraSitter program. Several sitting options are available: "companion sitting" provides a professional companion for shut-ins or individuals recovering from treatments, "stop-in" sitting provides a caregiver who will grocery shop, provide transportation or run errands; while the owner is out of town or in the hospital. Covenant Home Health
Covenant Home Health service enables patients to remain in the comfort of their own homes and gain maximum independence and self-support. Cancer patients can receive registered nursing care, personal care assistance, physical therapy, medical supplies, and assistance with special needs, such as intravenous, entrostomal therapy.
